Carepoint Services Ltd.

I have known Shirley Spong since 1998, whilst we were working in the London Borough of Lewisham. Shirley was the Head of the Welfare Rights Section and gave me a lot of advice and support when I was a senior manager in the social services department, trying to resolve issues of funding for supporting people for adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems.

Shirley was a close working colleague and I found her to be very professional, informative, reliable and constructive in her approach in dealing with a range of issues. She later became a close friend when she left the council.

In view of her vast experience and expertise in social policy i.e. housing, welfare rights, employment legalisation, social services finance etc. I had no hesitation in recommending her to consult and advice a mental health charity, which was undergoing some staffing and executive changes. I later received very positive feedback from the chief executive for the work she did in the charity.

Over the years I have often sought advice and counsel from Shirley. In summer 2012, I commissioned Shirley to review and amend my Company’s Employee Handbook. I was extremely pleased with the outcome and results, and have since rolled out the handbook to staff so as to meet the Care Quality Commission requirements.

Lastly, but not least, I have always found Shirley to be a source of inspiration and a person who gives both insightful and thought provoking advice.

Bean & Co Public Relations and Marketing Ltd

Latitude Consortium Ltd was employed by Bean & Co Public Relations and Marketing Ltd to help us restructure our company.

We worked with Shirley Spong over a period of about six months, at what was a challenging period in our development. Shirley helped us with great clarity, tenacity and wit to move towards a position when both partners could follow their chosen career paths without disruption to our business.

This was an extremely difficult time for our company and despite the fact that one partner decided to leave, with the support of Latitude, the remaining partner had the confidence to take over the business, employ more staff and take a much more business-focused position. The result has been a significantly higher turnover this year.

Not only has Latitude Consortium Ltd. proved to be professional, efficient and able to meet deadlines, but the company was extremely sensitive to the needs of everyone involved in our restructuring.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in employing their services again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for solutions to help their business move forward at a time of change.

I first came into contact with Shirley at Latitude Consortium when I was going through a particularly difficult time at work. We discussed the situation and talked through various approaches I could take. Unsure and nervous I took some of the advice but not all. Some months later I contacted Shirley again seeking her advice and support. I knew she would give me the best advice possible.

I cannot thank Shirley enough for helping me through what I can only describe as the most challenging experience of my entire life. Assisting me through a terribly difficult grievance process is only half of the story. Shirley is incredible knowledgeable. She offers sound advice with humour and a refreshing honesty and integrity that I have yet to find elsewhere. I have not met a better strategic thinker. Her approach to equalities and diversity is honest, practical and rooted in real experience.

Shirley has helped me identify and acknowledge the skills and experience I have built up over many years. More importantly she has helped me to rebuild my confidence so that I can move forward in the future.

I am forever grateful for having met such an amazing woman.

I have used Latitude Consortium’s services repeatedly for the past seven years and have always found their information and advice to be consistently accurate, considered, evidence-led and informative.

Their information and legal updates with regards to Social Welfare and Employment has been exemplary, often helping me navigate through the minefield of the Benefits system, especially with regards to immigration and/or asylum-seekers’-related issues. An example of this was a report I commissioned on behalf of Business Link In London (BLIL) that helped us identify the possible numbers and scope of Deaf and disabled entrepreneurs in London – priceless evidence-led information when trying to attract and tailor services to this group who may want to set up their own businesses, but anxious about potentially losing their entitlements.

However, their real strength is in the area of Personal Development: they have an amazing knack of communicating challenging messages in way that is clear, positive, supportive – and practical.

Would I recommend them? Unhesitatingly!
